Hamlet/Trayvon Martin

We understand the Trayvon Martin case better because Hamlets motive is solely on revenge for his diseased father; supposedly poisoned by Claudius,( hamlets uncle). Claudius is also the king now that hamlets father is dead. Hamlet is outraged with all of the events that have occurred recently too. I believe he may be asserting dominance in the novel because he wants the crown. Just like with the Trayvon Martin case, George Zimmerman was asserting his dominance over a younger person.  Both George and hamlet are the instigators for the results that have or will occur.
president Obamas speech focused on the racial issues about the Trayvon Martin case and a lot of people believe that had to do with the cause of trayvon's death.  In the speech, Obama talked about events that have happened to him and others, of the same ethnicity, such as being pulled over more frequently and having people be nervous around them. He believed that education and more opportunities for the young African American population would help to solve the problem. In George Zimmerman's mind, he probably believed that he could take a young African American guy on, and so decided to scare Trayvon by following him in a car. George being the white man probably believed he could finagle his way out of a case like the one he's in because he would have all of the caucasians understand his side of the story.
hamlet is very much like Trayvon because in a scene of the book, he creates a play based on the killing of his father, Claudius, being the killer in the play. He says to his friends "The play's the thing,Wherein I'll catch the conscience of the king"(ii.2.450).  His goal in this scene is all about getting a reaction out of his uncle, so that he may blame his fathers death on him.  Hamlet is the instigator because he wants the crown, or it may only be for revenge. All I know is that after the scene took place, hamlet "found his proof"; his evidence to kill his uncle. Much like how George had evidence and reasoning to kill Trayvon...  The lead up to Trayvons death resembles that of Claudius' soon to be death because both killers believed they had every right to do so, due to self asserting dominance. George Zimmerman May have been acting like a tough man when he followed Trayvon in the car and this act of Zimmerman May have ticked off Trayvon.
arrogance had to play a role in the Trayvon Martin case because during the confrontation of the two, George probably did not like the fact that a young African American was trespassing unknowingly. Zimmerman probably believed it was a perfect time to start something with this young African American; much like what happens in hamlet, but the opposite in age, where hamlet is the one picking on Claudius.  When hamlet says, "but my uncle-father and aunt mother are deceived", it gives hamlet all the more reason to fix the problem"(ii.2.399). Which is killing his uncle Claudius.  I think people make the Trayvon Martin case more sensitive than it has to be. And maybe George wasn't thinking only about being a tough guy, but an arrogant man towered a sketchy young African American.
in the novel hamlet is portrayed as a man who may have gone crazy after finding out about his fathers death from the ghost spirit of his father. With not wearing shoes, to going off on his true love, Ophelia, hamlet really does seem to have lost his mind. I think this has a connection with belief that hamlet needs to take back what rightfully belonged to him.  Just like George Zimmerman, he probably believed he could assert his dominance over a young African American. in a way George Zimmerman wanted to take back what belonged to him, dignity and superiority over African Americans.
could we say that George Zimmerman was in his right mind, or did he shoot Trayvon just because he's black?, you tell me.            

On Noodles

On Noodles


My favorite meal is one that has noodles in the dish. There are a bazillion different kinds of noodles I like. My dad seems to stay away from long noodles because he says "they are messy and should not be slurped up". I disagree with my dad's idea, and whenever I go food shopping with him, I'll usually grab some long noodles like angel hair, linguini, and or traditional long noodles. My favorite type of noodles would have to be linguini noodles because they fulfill every criteria on my list of what noodles should be; they're flat, long, and tasty when cooked right. I kind of wish my parents would make homemade noodles, like what you see on the Food-Network channel.
I eat noodles just about every morning for breakfast. My favorite meal of all time, with noodles, is my dad's creation of a tomato and artichoke based sauce, with salmon or tilapia. My dad is a great cook. I enjoy just about every meal he makes, especially when he creates a meal of his own. The dish consists of any type of noodles, preferably bow tie, penne, or long noodles, and a tomato based sauce. The sauce he makes is out of this world and very simplistic. The sauce consists of air loom tomatoes, white wine, capers, red bell peppers, butter, artichokes, and some salt and pepper. It all goes into a sauté pan an simmers for about 20-30 minutes. Oh and the noodles; they are thrown into a nice hot boiling pot of water with a dash of kosher salt.  I usually cook the noodles for about 8 minutes because any time over the 8 minutes will result in over cooked noodles. Over cooked noodles are like my pet peeve, I despise over cooked noodles because they become to mushy and pasty.    
I can remember when I was in elementary my dad would make spaghetti on some nights. I always enjoyed these nights because my mom would make me eat with my shirt off so I don't get my shirt dirty, stained with marinara. I'd take my shirt off and purposely make a mess by dragging the noodles drenched in marinara along my chest. I guess that it was cool because after making the mess, I'd have to take a bath and I loved taking bathes. Noodles and I go way back. I just can't get enough of the many different noodles there are. My goal is to taste every kind of noodle dish their are in the world.

Big Brother/NSA

Big brother and the national security agency are very much alike because both of their sole purposes are to catch someone committing treason or even some kind of felony. Both of their main goals are to catch the person before they commit the act, so that whatever they're doing won't affect the vast majority of the population, who look up to the government. It's so their own people of the country don't turn on the government, or so they can't see the true colors of the government.
the National Security Agency is a very powerful intelligence community whose sole purpose is to collect and report sensitive information around the nation and even the world. Just like Big Brother, the NSA is in just about every monitor people use, like cellphones, computers, and even televisions. It's pretty scary to think about, don't you think.  Big Brother is flat out open to how many hours, minutes, even seconds a day they can listen and watch.  You could say that we are essentially living in George Orwell's book.  The NSA says, "their mission is to help protect national security by providing intelligence information to government", much like Big Brother; but Big Brother is somewhat more assertive with their power, like torturing someone weeks on end to extract the littlest of information.
Edward Snowden, the man who leaked 200,000 classified documents about the NSA mass surveillance. Many believe he did the right thing, where as others don't.  Big Brother would have caught Snowden before he could even think to declassify sensitive information about the government. This totally relates to the NSA's job, but used to counter terrorism...if that's true.  To think Big Brother is and could be the future of the NSA; just maybe sooner or later every fact about the NSA will be open to the public as a form of fearing the government, like in 1984.
just like Big Brothers phrase, "Big Brother is watching you", so is the US government. I wonder when the US government will have a phrase like big Brother's, because it's really no secret any more, right?

What is Art?

           The definition of art is, "the quality, production, expression, or realm, according to aesthetic principles, of what is beautiful, appealing, or of more than ordinary significance".  I agree that art needs to be meticulously created but to also provoke ideas too.  Some examples of art, to me, are the Mona Lisa and the last supper.  I don't believe art needs to be created only by highly experienced people who have gone to college for their high level of creations because art can come in many forms, such as graffiti or even simple cartoons.  Cartoons for me provoke meanings and ideas and I'm sure I'm not the only one out there who has their own opinion on a cartoon they've read.

The painting I chose is known as the "Girl With a pearl earring".  Some people call the painting the DutchMona Lisa.  The painting was done by Johannes Vermeer.  I consider the  "Girl With a pearl earring" a work of art because the painter creates the pearl earring an unusual piece in the painting, like a sore thumb. I really don't see why the painter put that in there, but he did. Maybe that was were he wanted you to stare at when looking  at the painting.I also think the girls eyes also create a sense of reality, with her looking over her shoulder in an unusual way.  The art piece has depth and meaning to its existence giving the painting a meaning to be created.  The depth within the painting comes from the black background giving the girl a three dimensional look.  Back then this was considered a high level of painting and as new ways of painting advances so does the style of painting. This is why art can be a painting on a wall and or on a canvas, that's just my opinion.

           Some people may think that the  "Girl With a pearl earring" is no master piece, but they are wrong. I say the painting shows a master painter at its best because he was a guy that took risks and believed his own painting was brilliant. Johannes Vermeer, I believe, deserves a spot in the top 100 best artists of all time because he changed the way people painted.
